Our History
Back in 2017, I was diagnosed with HS or Hidradenitis Suppurativa. To help relieve my skin symptoms I began making my own body oils and changing my body wash. I also noticed that my haircare products were contributing to my skin condition. So I began to use my body oil on my hair and scalp. It helped but it wasn’t enough. Over there years I tried out different products only to be left frustrated with broken, painful skin. And if you know anything about having skin issues like HS or eczema then you know it also comes with an unpleasant odor.
That’s when I had the great idea to just make my own products. I knew I couldn’t be the only one with this problem. My kids and I can’t use products with synthetic fragrances, added dyes, and harmful chemicals. And that’s when The Good Hair Co. was born. Founded in 2021, The Good Hair Co. is a black family-owned and operated hair care company.
Two of my daughters and I were bleaching our hair once or twice a year. Our hair was suffering and we didn’t want to stop the coloring process. Why did we have to choose between artistically expressing ourselves through our hair and having long healthy hair? Frustrated I began looking for a complete system that nourishes the hair and scalp back to health, regardless of hair type.
When I launched The Good Hair Co. we were only selling satin bonnets, hair oil, and detangling brushes. In October 2022 we launched the Rice & Flax Nourishing Trio to compliment our hair oil. This is only the beginning. Stay tuned to see what’s next for The Good Hair Co. in the upcoming years.
